My Thoughts On The Mooncup

Hey!
Just a disclaimer, if periods aren't your thing, go ahead and leave come back next week or click HERE for last weeks posts.

I normally don't talk about periods but since the majority of my demographic is female. I wanted to do this post for a while but I have always pushed it off for some reason or another.

I have been using this menstrual cup for around 6 months but I have wanted to try one for about a year. I bought mine in Boots for €30 which at the time I was nervous about getting as I was afraid I wouldn't like it and end of not using it and having wasted €30 on something I won't even use. This was not the case at all, I'm so glad I bought it. Just to give you a little info about my average period, it normally lasts 3-4 days and I would describe it as a light - medium flow.

It took me a while to get used to inserting and removing it as it is completely different to tampons. I use the C fold as I find it is the easiest one to do. After I hacked the whole inserting and removing it, I found it very easy to use, I now leave it in up to 12 hours which is great. Since I have a light enough flow, I used to find it very difficult to get tampons and to time how long to have them in for as it is a horrible experience pulling out a dry one. The great thing about a menstrual cup is that it doesn't matter how long you have it in for, it could be 5 minutes or 12 hours and it will still come out with ease. The only thing is when you remove it when I have it in for around 12 hours it can be a bit of a murder scene. Thankfully, I haven't any horror stories of removing it yet.

I love not worrying about how long you have it in and trying to bring spares around with me. I find it great for school as I don't have to worry about it leaking.

Pros

It can last up to 8 years, that €0.31 per period
Cost effective, more money to spend on cooler things
Environmentally friendly
No worries about how long you have it in
Less of a chance of TSS
No dragging around tonnes of spares
Doesn't contain harmful chemicals

Cons

Can be a bit messy
Awkward to get out sometimes
Only have one, what happens when you need it but don't have it

For me personally, the pros out way the cons but I know for pad gals or people that are a bit on the squeamish sides of things you might see things slightly differently and that's ok.

I can't say enough good things about the Mooncup, it has even shortened my period by one day! Here's what I used to use on an average day of my period and what I use now.

Have you tried out a menstrual cup? What did you think of it?
Thanks for being awesome,

Empties #6

Hey!
It's been a while since I have done an Empties/ Project Pan, like I said in my last Project Pan post I have decided to combine these two together to make 1 post instead of boring you and I with 2 Empties like posts.

Collection Primed & Ready Primer

I don't really know what to say about this primer, I didn't notice my makeup lasting any less or any longer but I know I won't repurchase it as I have found a better primer that is the same price. I don't even know did it help my makeup last or not.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

This has smashed to pieces and I have decided to get rid of it as I have repressed in three times already and there is very little left. I was surprised how natural it looked on me and didn't make me look like I smeared orange on my face. I am not going to repurchase this again as it is expensive for a full size and it is tested on animals.

Lush Grease Lightning

I can't say enough good things about this product, if you have problems with getting a few spots this is an amazing spot killer. I would put a half a pump of this product on a couple of spots and overnight they normally would shrink and lose some of their redness. It is also from Lush, another reason to love it. I have finally picked up another one of these and I am so happy with myself.

Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream

This is my current favourite night cream, I already am onto my second pot of this. I found this very moisturising, great for winter and it smells amazing. It is also very affordable and that's important as I am a student and have no part-time job. It doesn't aggravate my skin either which is always a good sign.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

This is my holy grail foundation as it is the only drugstore foundation that I have found so far that suits my skin tone. Being a paley like myself, it is near to impossible to find a decently priced foundation that isn't 2 shades too dark for me. I feel that this is my 4th or 5th bottle of this foundation. I have the new formula one and I don't like it as much as the old formula. I find that the new formula isn't as liquidy as the old one. I have gotten used of it now though and I am happy with the coverage.

The next few things that I have decided to throw out as they are all out of date by at least 1 year.

Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara

I've had this mascara for maybe 1 1/2 years and I have barely used it. I know it seems so disgusting. I don't think I would repurchase this mascara as even thought it said it curled eyelashes but I found that it never did as my lashes are hard to curl even with a lash curler.

Benefit Big Bad Gal Lash Mascara

I've had this for over 2 years and I think finely it is time to say goodbye, I will be keeping all the mascara wands as I like to switch up my mascara wands every so often. I really enjoyed layering this mascara with Miss Sporty one (that's below) and Covergirl Lash Exact. If you like volumizing mascara this one is your Gal (get it). I'm not sure will I repurchase this again.

Miss Sporty Fabulous Lash Mascara

Another mascara I have had for far too long. This mascara surprisingly curled my eyelashes without using an eyelash curler. I enjoyed using this as I hate using an eyelash curler as in the past I have accidentally pulled out a few eyelashes while using it. I am not going to repurchase this again as it is tested on animals.

Maybelline Baby Lips Cherry Me, Pink Punch, Pink Shock and Cherry Velvet

Remember these and the rage for these lip balms in 2011, yes I Googled it. I have some from 2012/13 that I haven't used very often and are at this stage gone past their use by date. I tried to finish these in a previous Project Pan but they are so hard to use up. I will not repurchase these as firstly I never really liked them and secondly they are tested on animals.

Rimmel Vingl Gloss

Another thing stupid 12/13 year old Róisín bought. I suppose this is why I don't really like lip glosses that much now. I never really wore it much and I know it is time to part ways with this thing and I won't repurchase it again.

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss

I used to be a huge Tanya Burr fan and when I heard she was bringing out a beauty range I was so excited except the nearest place that stocked it was in Northern Ireland. I went on holidays to Belfast a year after and dragged my Mam into Superdrug to pick out one of Tanya Burr's lip glosses. This was the one I picked 'Picnic in the Park' and this was when I was going through my pink lip colour phase. I have had this for over 2 years and it is time once again to say goodbye.

What are your most recent empties?

My Travels: Tenerife

Hey!
During the Christmas holidays, I got to go to Tenerife for a week. I haven't experienced Christmas abroad that I can fully remember as I was in America for Christmas when I was 6. It didn't really feel like Christmas when I was there but it was lovely to not be absolutely freezing for a week in December. This was also my first excursion with my camera that I got for Christmas.

We arrived to the hotel at around 8 o'clock. After getting a reception car to pick us up at the bottom of the steep hill, I'm glad we didn't have to haul our bags up, it was hard enough walking up by yourself. It was warm for compared to what it was like in Ireland. The first day should really be called 'The Feast of Rice Krispies and Manderins' as that was what we had for dinner. We had arrived at a bad time when the restaurant was closing and so was the shop. It was a bit of a disaster but the manderins tasted AMAZING, so it wasn't really that bad.

This was the sight from my bedroom on the first day and something I didn't really want to see. Thankfully the rain and horrible gusts of winds only lasted an hour or two. We eventually got enough courage to venture down into the town of Costa Adeje. It is a smallish tourist town, we wandered around to try to figure out what we would do for the week. No one decided to do this before had.

One of the things I hated about going into Costa Adeje was everyone is trying to make money from you. There was an incident when a man kept following us to try and get us to go into the restaurant he worked for, obviously we didn't and tried to avoid him for the rest of the week.

In the afternoons we would always go back to the hotel and go to the pool. Of course, we got a taxi. One day it was so hard to get a taxi we decided to walk back to the hotel, it was exhausting and I wasn't the only one who hoped it would never happen again. The pool wasn't heated which made it interesting jumping from the jacuzzi into the main pool and getting the shock of your life.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent at the beach. I don't really like swimming in the sea but my dad loves it. I spent my day just chilling, making sand castles with my brothers and walking along the sea. I can't remember the last time I was at a beach and not freezing cold.

Christmas isn't really celebrated in Tenerife, since it's a slightly touristy nothing clothes. On Christmas Eve, one of the taxi drivers was wearing a Santa beard and hat which was highly amusing. To finish off Christmas Day, we watched Mrs. Browns Boy's on ITV which I was surprised there was even English channels in the first place.

We went to Siam Park which is a water park. I am not really an adrenalin junkie and I hate anything that has a vertical drop as it makes me feel sick. There was plenty of things to choose from for a scaredy cat like myself like Mai Thai River, Jungle Snakes and my personal favourite Mekong Rapids. Of course, my brothers forced me on a few which I was happy to get off at the end. There was also a beach where there was a wave pool. Depending on how far out you were the waves could go up to 3 metres. It was so enjoyable trying to get onto the waves as they came. I unfortunately don't have any photos of Siam park as I was too afraid to bring my camera just in case it got lost.

One of the last excursions we had was going on a half day trip up to the  volcanic mountain Teide. The tour was very interesting talking about how this volcano formed Tenerife and about its more recent eruptions. This volcano is dormant which a lot of people were happy to hear as it hasn't erupted since 1909. The views were amazing and I have over 50 photos of just scenery and I found it so hard to narrow it down to the few here.

This was definitely a new experience, I had never been on a sun holiday or been to such a touristy area. I enjoyed this holiday with my family but I feel that I mightn't go back to Tenerife for a couple of years as I didn't like how commercial it was.

Have you been to Tenerife? What did you think of it?

Thanks for being awesome,

New Years Goals 2017!!

Hey!
It's already 7th day of 2017 and it's that time of year when I make a few goals for myself for the upcoming year. If you want to see my last years post, click HERE. Let's get on with the goals.

Do My Driving Test

I have 7 lessons done and I hope to get all the rest of my lessons done by the first half of this year. I hope to do my driving test, I would love it if I am able to pass it first time but if I don't it won't be the end of the world. I will keep you updated throughout the year.

Upload 1 Video A Month On YouTube

Another goal that I had for last year and I want to continue it this year as well. I know in December I didn't get a video up but that was because of Christmas tests and I had a very busy month as well. This year I hope to make more of an effort as I found my motivation ceased to exist during certain stages of the year.

Save €10 A Month

After saving €120 last year, I thought it would be a great idea to do it again this year. Like last year, I'm not to sure what I'll spend this on or save it towards something substantial.

Go Cruelty Free

I know I had this goal last year but I didn't work very hard at it. I was more aware of my buying habits but I still bought some products that tested on animals. This year, I really want to sort my makeup out properly. I currently have over 20 products that are tested on animals and I hope by the end of the year to have less than 5.

Do 5 Collabs

I love collabing with fellow bloggers, I want to do 5 collabs this year with 5 different bloggers. I haven't anything planned for definite but I will hopefully get organised in the next few weeks.

Learn How To Use My Camera Properly

For Christmas, I received a camera from my parents, Canon Powershot SX420 IS to be exact. I want to improve and develop photography skills as I have always loved taking photos and of course for here!

Read 12 Books

This year since I have less free time due to school work, yay for The Leaving Cert, I want to make a big effort to read some books. I would say I would want to read a book a month but I know that mightn't be able to get that. During the Summer holidays, I hope to read more but we will see how that will go. I will be keeping my GoodReads updated to track my progress.

Use Instagram More Often

Going with learning to use my camera, I also want to post more often on Instagram, maybe once or twice a week. During the late Summer last year, I started posting more often and I really enjoyed trying to think up of new cool ideas for my Insta.

Survive School

I would be lying if I said school is a breeze, it is more like a train wreck! This year, I want to pass all my subjects and aim for 400 + points. I have a lot of work ahead of me unfortunately but it will all be worth it in the end.

Go To 2 College Open Days

I need to start thinking about college and no other way than going to an open day. I am thinking of going to UCC, NUIG and maybe UCD. I don't know what I want to do yet but when I was at the NUIG Science day, I found Microbiology most interesting. I have already been in UCD but not on an open day.

What are your New Years Goals?
Thanks for being awesome,
