May Favourites 2015

Hello Fabulous Internet,
I can't believe another month has come and gone! Unfortunately for me, for nearly the first three weeks of June, I have my Junior Cert exams. For people that are not from the Emerald Isle, the Junior Cert is state exams you take at the age of 15 or 16. I do 11 subjects and I have 14 exams. As I am writing this, I am just on a break from studying. I am not really too nervous about these exams yet but you should ask me on Tuesday night and I might say something completely different!! So just to get back into the topic at hand, here are my May Favourites.

Taylor Swift 1989 DLX
My aunt got this for my birthday. This has been my been my go to album this past month. I think it is so cool that you get Polaroids with the album. My two favourite songs are All You Had To Do Was Stay and How To Get A Girl. I am going to see Taylor Swift when she comes to Dublin in June and I am looking forward to that a lot as it's on two weeks after my exams finish.

Seventeen Doll'd Up
I got this mascara at the end of last month and I have been using it as much as possible ever since. I don't use it every day as my school has a strict rule about makeup (natural foundation only!) It coats my lashes nicely and it doesn't clump (which is awesome!). The only thing that annoys me a bit is that it is not waterproof because I can get really watery eyes sometimes and it can get kinda messy.

CSI Cyber
I love CSI but since most of them have finished (unfortunately) until now. The difference between CSI Cyber and the regular CSI is that the CSI would have a crime scene while CSI Cyber deal with the part of the crime that is through the internet. I didn't know would I love this or hate it but I really enjoy watching it.

Taylor Swift Bad Blood Music Video
OMG I love this music video. It was so cool as a lot of celebrities were in it. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to. It is quiet hard to explain what happens because so many things are happening. I have watched it about five times already.
What have been your favourites this month?
To anyone who is doing the Junior or Leaving Cert, may the odds ever be in your favour!
See you,

A Letter To My Start Of Third Year Self

Hello Fabulous Internet,
Since it is nearly the end of the school year, I thought I would do a letter to my start of third year self.

Dear Róisín,
This is end of third year Róisín, I want to tell you a few things that will help you get through this year.
Please don't wish away this year like I have, I just couldn't wait to get the Junior Cert done and go on to TY but now I wish I enjoyed this year a bit more than I did.
I don't think I ever thought about it but your class 3F will separate for good and nothing has prepared me for that, even some of your good friends and people from your year will be graduating a year ahead of you.
This year isn't going to be a walk in the park, you are expected to study and a lot of homework. There is nothing easy about doing a state exam.
Your heart isn't going to be broken but it will have melted over a few things. You are the only one that can mould it back together because once as you do, you will be happier again.
Don't be surprised if some days you just aren't happy because everyone has those days. You will feel crap and want to give up but keep going, it gets better I promise you!
Stop complaining about everything, you are just making everything more negative. You need to look more on the bright side of things.
Any chance you get, hug your friends and just don't care what other people think of you. They are your glue at the times when you are in pieces. They are always there for you and if your are feeling down they will try to make you feel better.
You will find something that makes you feel so happy and that is acting, you won't realise how much you love it until the day after when its all over. You will make so many new friends at Speech and Drama and you won't believe that you were thinking about not doing it in TY!
Don't go with the crowd, just because everyone isn't studying yet doesn't mean you don't study.
Don't worry about the November tests or the Mocks, they are there so you can make mistakes and learn from them.
You can do it!!!
Good Luck,
Róisín

Music Is Apart Of Me

Hello Fabulous Internet,
Today I thought I would do something slightly different. I like to write more different types of blog posts about random topics.
One thing you should know about me is that I love music, I love to listen to music and to perform music. I play guitar, piano, fiddle, concertina, ukulele and tin whistle but currently I play guitar and piano. I play different types of music in guitar like pop, country etc. I play just classical music on the piano.
My favourite artists are Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, Lorde and Black Eyed Peas. It is kinda a mixed bag but who said you can't have mixed genres! I have started to write songs but I don't think they are that good but I'm improving, I think! I might put up a cover of a song or something in the future but unfortunately I am very busy with exams (Yay for the Junior Cert). If you take away music from me, you are taking a part of me away from me. It might sound crazy but if you take away a passion from yourself, you are taking away a part of yourself with it.
What are some of your passions?
See you,

Skincare Ingredients 101 Propylene Glycol

Hello Fabulous Internet,
I have been thinking about doing this for a while now but I haven't had the chance until now. A lot of the time when you look at the ingredients list of any skincare or beauty products, you may only know what 2 or 3 ingredients are out of a list of 20 or so. To broaden my knowledge and yours, I have decided to do this series (I'll try to do one once a month,) which is to tell you about an ingredient. I will try to do a mixture of ingredients to avoid and what ones you should try to have in skincare products. I will try my best to make everything as easy to understand. I will leave all of the sources of information at the bottom of the blog posts if you want to get extra information on it.
I am not a dermatologist, this is research I have been doing on the Internet.

Propylene Glycol
Propylene Glycol can be found in makeup and some skincare products. PG comes from propylene, which is a chemical produced as a side effect of petroleum refining. So you are basically rubbing a byproduct of petrol into your face. It is considered 'non- toxic' even though on goodguide.com it is a medium health concern
PG can be used as an emulsifier (which helps keep the mixture combined) and a humectant (helps keep in and attract moisture).

The reason it is used is because it is cheaper than other emulsifiers and humectants. It makes your skin look soft and smooth but over time it can dry out your skin and making it look dull.

There hasn't been any studies on the long term effects of using PG but hopefully there will be some in a few years. It is recommended to try and avoid Propylene Glycol whenever possible because it can cause rashes and skin damage.

Products That Contain Propylene Glycol
St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Facial Scrub
Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash
Cetaphil Moisturising Cream
Covergirl Lash Exact
Rimmel Fix & Protect Pro Primer
Garnier Moisture Match
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

Thanks for reading.
See you,

April Favourites 2015

Hello Fabulous Internet,
it is the start of May! So I am going to share what I have been loving in April.

Pantene Pro-V Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo
I really like the smell of this dry shampoo, kinda a weird thing to say about it, it makes my hair feel less dirty when its on the greasier sides of things.

L'Oréal Paris True Match Foundation
I have been loving this foundation for the texture and for the shade also. For me being on the paler side of things, it is a nightmare trying to find the perfect shade of foundation. I really like the finish this gives with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

Vendetta by Catherine Doyle
I would recommend this book to anybody who likes YA fiction. I love this book because it is not a typical YA novel with vampires etc. it is more realistic. The annoying thing is that this is in a series of books and the next one won't be out until 2016! I know it isn't that far away. I am not going to reveal anything about the story line because I might say too much.

Spike
It was my birthday during the month of April and as a birthday present from my parents they got me this cactus for me as I wanted a plant in my room but not much light comes in my window. I know this isn't a very original name so if you have any other name suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Joe Weller
I found this YouTuber this month and he is hilarious. He does skits. My favourite video of his is when he prank calls YouTubers and they troll him back.

What were your April Favourites?
See you,
